Sri Lankan Rocket Wins the First Place at Japan Water Rocket Competition

Water rocket competitions have nowadays become very much popular among students around the world as it gives children to explore much complicated rocket technology in much simpler manner. Even in Sri Lanka this has now become popular among students not only in schools in and around Colombo but even in schools far away from the capital.

Arthur C Clark Institute for Modern Technologies introduced the water rocket competitions to local schools 14 years ago. Since then this competition has become an annual event in which students compete with their water rockets with their own modifications and improvements. Winners from these local competitions are given the opportunity to participate International Water Rocket Competition organized by the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF).

In 2005 Sri Lanka marked their presence in the international water rocket competition becoming 3rd in the competition held in Japan. Since then Sri Lankan competitors were among the first 5 places and from 2017 onward Sri Lankan students won the first place for 3 consecutive years with the win this year.
