2023 OWSD-Elsevier Foundation Awards: Applications are now open

OWSD-Elsevier Foundation in this week announced the 2023 edition of their Early Career Women Scientists award program for women scientist from Developing countries. According to the foundation the awards this year are open for scientists in Food security, agricultural productivity and sustainable food production fields.

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) offices in Trieste, Italy are home to the worldwide organization The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), which was established in 1987. It is a UNESCO program unit.

The goal of OWSD is to promote the role of distinguished women scientists in the development process and to increase their representation in scientific and technology leadership. It is the first international conference to bring together women scientists from both developing and developed nations.

Women scientists in the poor countries are given access to OWSD for networking, career growth, and research training possibilities.

The OWSD-Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early Career Women Scientists reward and encourage women working and living in developing countries who are in the early stages of their scientific careers, having often overcome great challenges to achieve research excellence. Awardees must have made a demonstrable impact on the research environment, both at a regional and international level, and must have received their PhD in STEM in the last ten years.

Eligibility

The applicant must be a woman who has received her PhD in a scientific discipline within the previous ten years and whose current scientific research is related to the area of food security, agricultural productivity and/or sustainable food production. This year the specific research areas from which the awardees will be selected are as follows,

  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Astronomy, Space and Earth Sciences
  • Biological Systems and Organisms
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Computing and Information Technology
  • Engineering Sciences
  • Mathematical Sciences
  • Medical and Health Sciences (including Neurosciences)
  • Physics
  • Structural, Cell and Molecular Biology

Deadline

Applicants are encouraged to apply for the award on or before 15th September 2022.
