All Island Essay Competition- 2018 Organized by SLAAS, Section B

There is an open call for All Island essay competition for grades 10 and 11 School children. It will be held under the theme of “A Sri Lanka Free from Harmful Agrochemicals” and the contestant should decide an appropriate title based on the theme. A handwritten essay should be submitted in Sinhala/Tamil/English mediums with the word limit of 1000 for Sinhala and Tamil mediums and 750 for English medium. One entrant can submit only one essay.

To be eligible, the essay should be accompanied by the completed “Essay Contest Entry Form” which is properly signed by the student, respective class teacher and principal/sectional head of the school. Essay Contest Entry Form can be designed by the contestant including Full Name of the applicant, Name with initials, Grade, Date of Birth, Gender, School Address, School Contact number (T.P), Personal Address, Personal contact number (T.P), Medium of submission, Essay title, Student’s Declaration and Signature, Class teachers’ Signature, Section Head’s / Principal’s Signature and Stamp. The sample Entry Form and other information can be downloaded from, www.slaas.lk.

The essay and the completed entry form must sent to the, Secretary, Section B- Agriculture and Forestry, Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science, No: 120/10, Vidya Mawatha, Colombo 07 on or before 31st July, 2018. Submissions must be postmarked before the deadline. On the top left corner of the envelope write “Essay Contest 2018 – Section B”. The essay submission can be posted individually or as a collection of submissions through the class teacher/sectional head/ principal if needed. By submitting an essay, student automatically admits that the essay is the own work of the student and he/she takes full responsibility of the work.

Cash prices will be awarded to the best submissions under all three languages. (First Prize: Rs. 10,000.00, Second Prize: Rs 8,000.00, and Third Prize: Rs. 5,000.00).
