1st Annual International Conference on Veterinary & Animal Sciences will be held during 15 – 16 December 2015 in Colombo, Sri Lanka under the theme of “Livestock for Sustainable Livelihood Improvement”
Sustainable development emphasizes a holistic, equitable and far-sighted approach to decision-making at all levels. It emphasizes not just strong economic performance but intra-generational and inter-generational equity. Most of the rural and sub-rural community of the globe depends majorly on livestock for their livelihoods as it provides fuel, food, manure and income. Apart from extensive work carried out on various aspects of livestock promotion, ‘livestock as a means of livelihood’ is still a neglected area. Directional approach of the governments, researchers and all stake-holders towards enhancement of livestock production systems is the only pathway towards sustainable agriculture and livestock.
